Naberauli Wines – The History and Modernity of Racha-Lechkhumi's Unique Wines The history of Naberauli Wines begins in 2018 and aims to mark Racha-Lechkhumi on the world wine map as a rare and unique wine-producing region. Our state-of-the-art factory and laboratory are located in the beautiful village of Sadmeli in Racha. The remains of monks' cellars are preserved in this place; the story begins in the 17th-18th centuries, when the lowlands of Georgia fought against enemies, while works of art and the most precious thing for a Georgian – the vine – took refuge in the mountains. It seems that our ancestors knew from the very beginning that wine would be the calling card with which Georgia would present and introduce itself to the whole world in the future. The wine was named "Naberauli" in honor of this history. The labels also tell stories about the traditions characteristic of this region. Naberauli wines are made from endemic grape varieties of Racha-Lechkhumi: Aleksandrouli, Mujuretuli, Saperavi, Dzelshavi, Tsolikouri, Usakhelouri, and Rachuli Mtsvane. Winemaking Philosophy. The winemaking philosophy conveys the authentic character of the region, with its unique terroir components, from the mountainous landscape and diverse soils to the temperate climate. We achieve this with wines made by both classical and low-intervention Georgian traditional methods – using Qvevri.
